BIO 130 (a 3-unit course) is linked to BIO 130L (a 1-unit lab) and centers on the Natural History of California and its great range, the Sierra Nevada . This three-week class focuses on the ecology, evolutionary history and environmental biology of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and associated Great Basin districts. Two of the three weeks will be spent camping and hiking in the Sierra Nevada, Great Basin and White-Inyo range where emphasis will be placed on plant and animal identification, ecological relationship among species, and environmental impact of an ever-increasing number of user groups. Included on the itinerary are Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks, Yosemite, Mono Lake, Long Valley, Owens Valley, and the White-Inyo mountains - some of the most beautiful terrain this country has to offer.

If you are a Sierra Nevada class alumni, please let us know where you are and what you are doing.
I see an alumni party in your future! Send your email here.
