SPARTANS FALL TO JAGUARS IN OVERTIME (Jan 13th, 2012)

Despite a courageous second half effort by freshman Dominique Moreno the MiraCosta College men's basketball team couldn't overcome a lackluster first half and lost 84-77 in overtime.  Moreno finished the game with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.  MiraCosta was down 18 points at half time and worked extremely hard to put themselves in a position to win the game. With the loss the Spartans fall to 4-3 in league which is tied for 3rd place in the Pacific Coast Conference.

WINING STREAK EXTENDS TO THREE IN A ROW (Jan 12th, 2012)

With each win the Spartans (4-2) are getting more confident. MiraCosta forced 29 turnovers on way to a decisive 66-48 victory over Grossmont College (4-3).  Despite only shooting 32% from the field the Spartans managed to make more free throws than the Griffens attempted.  The Spartans' attack mentality, both offensively and defensively, created enough momentum for the victory.  MiraCosta was led in scoring by Evan Watkins (19 points and 7 rebounds), Andre Warren (18 points and 6 rebounds) and Baptiste Boucharel (12 points, 6 rebounds and one thundering dunk that capped one of the Spartans many runs.)
